SOPA Square Expansion Update – $4 million invested in construction, new sidewalks and new retail spaces on Pandosy Street

Kelowna’s first urban pedestrian village expanding on schedule  

KELOWNA, BC December 17, 2013 – SOPA Square, Kelowna’s first urban pedestrian village and residential community is on track, investing over $4 million over the past three months to complete its retail and commercial space by early 2014.

“We are very pleased with the commercial construction progress.” says Erwin Greisinger, of Okanagan Valley Asset Management Corporation (OVAM), Asset Managers of SOPA Square. “With $1 – $1.5million in construction per month, we’ve made excellent advancements including new sidewalks, preparation of the spacious interior market courtyard, design and construction of the impressive 16 foot high SOPA entrance gate and celebration of the opening of Silent Noise, a locally-based jewellery store and first retailer to capture Christmas shoppers in the South Pandosy area.

SOPA’s street-level retail space consists of fifteen strata lots over 40,000 square feet, while the second floor commercial suites accumulate over 14,000 square feet. Colliers Centre Group is responsible for securing several leases now being finalized, with select national franchises and retailers also being courted.

In anticipation of more business openings, including Tru Yogurt in the new year, tenants and owners are commencing their independent improvements.  Work at SOPA over the coming weeks will also include building infrastructure completion, hard and soft landscaping, civil work and paving.

SOPA Square brings a new level of urban living to the Kelowna and the Kelowna real estate marketplace. An anticipated $70 million will be spent to construct the project.  Accompanying the pedestrian oriented retail and commercial component, SOPA will be home to fifty-one condominium owners in the Residential Tower with an additional forty-eight homeowners residing in the comfort of elevated City Townhomes.

Featuring architecturally sophisticated all-in-one-place amenities, SOPA residents will have access to landscaped, elevated outdoor courtyard plazas for outdoor entertaining, a fitness facility, elevated plunge pools and a smooth current lap pool. Tower Residences are available for purchase now, with occupancy expected early 2015.

Greyback Construction, based in Penticton, is the general contractor for SOPA Square, whose quality workmanship and skilled workforce are hallmarks of the many commercial, industrial, institutional and residential projects Greyback has built.
